Hope all the mums out there had a beautiful Mothers Day. We had such stunning weather in Sydney.
My computer has been soooo slow lately I have had to give up on trying to post for a while so am running a bit behind. For some reason after a rest, its back to full speed again!
I made a puffy heart cake topper and bought this gorgeous soap from Seventh Tree. Star tag is the start of the new star garlands I have planned (...they need more practice).

Confetti Fair
The lovely lady who ran the small but beautiful Confetti Fair did an amazing job.
My fave little stalls were Noah & Willow (I found my wedding pics & garland at the stall they helped Tealily set up for One Fine Day); 3's a Party- check out the fox baby shower (more pics here), so fresh and original
Ashdown & Bee; Bon Bon Boutique (loved the flowers); and I got to meet the sweet and very clever Dewi who made my wedding cake
Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth to come this year so get there if you can!

All By Himself
Mr went to the florist all by himself on Friday after working on the house all day and these were waiting for me when I got home. I think they're the most beautiful I've received.

Afternoon Delight
I feel like I haven't posted a decent update in ages. Mr and I have been very slowly trying to build a concrete deck. The walls have been removed and our bi-fold doors and windows are finally in (yay! - you'll see in the 3rd pic down the window on left and doors on right and the unfinished surrounds). The sunshine streams in. This bottom pic is taken from the unpoured deck looking in.
I also popped into the School to visit Kara and her caravan a few weekends back and picked up a few treasures. Some are in the cupboard still wrapped up for when we eventually get to doing up the bathroom.

A New Corner
Mr and me have been working hard on our little house. It looks a fright from the outside still but we have been sorting and scrubbing on the inside.

Paloma's Profound Thought No. 6
"What do you drink
What do you eat at breakfast
And I know who you are"
“Every morning at breakfast, Papa drinks a coffee and reads
the newspaper. Several newspapers in
fact: Le Monde, Le Figaro, Liberation
and, once a week, L’Express, Les Echoes, Time and Courrier
International. But I can tell that the most satisfying thing for him is his first cup
of coffee with Le Monde. He is absorbed by his reading fro at least
half an hour. In order to enjoy this half-hour, he has to get up very early,
because his days are full. But every
morning, even if there’s been an overnight session and he has only slept two
hours, he gets up at six and reads his newspaper while he drinks a strong cup
of coffee. In this way Papa constructs himself, everyday. I say ‘constructs himself’ because I think
that each time, it’s a new construction, as if everything has been reduced to
ashes during the night, and he has to start from scratch. In our world, that’s the way you live your
grown-up life: you must constantly rebuild your identity as an adult, the way
it’s been put together it is wobbly and ephemeral, so fragile, cloaking despair
and, when you’re in front of the mirror, it tells you the lies you need to
believe. For Papa, the newspaper and the
coffee are magic wands that transform him into an important man. Like a pumpkin
into a carriage. Of course he finds this very satisfying: I never see him as
calm and relaxed as when he’s sitting drinking his six o’clock coffee.” Pg 88, The Elegance of the Hedgehog, Muriel Barbery
A child's perspective. Coffee absolutely 'constructs' me at the beginning of everyday. Is there anything better than a coffee and paper on the weekend with the sunshine on my back. A day like today. BTW - Mr and I's latest obsession is banana with honey and cinnamon on toast. Try it!

Japanese Connection
"But in my manga, people seem to eat differently. It looks simple, refined, moderate, delicious. You eat the way you look at a beautiful picture or sing in a beautiful choir. Neither too much nor too little: moderate, in the good sense of the word"
This a quote from the voice of twelve year old French girl in a surprisingly lovely novel called The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery. She finds her family and everything French utterly pretentious and everything Japanese elegant and refined. She was searching for the beauty of life. She loved words... "pity the poor in spirit who knows neither the enchantment nor the beauty of language".
We had some amazing meals on Hawaii. Nobu (4th pic) was a highlight as was Morimoto (top) in The Modern hotel. Q-Pot was a gorgeous Japanese store featuring macarons, candy, chocolate and pastry shaped jewellery decked out like a chocolate store. There were a stack of Japanese couples getting married too, everyday from 8am until well into the night there were 3 to 7 weddings per day!

Aloha
Mr and I spent a very relaxing week in Hawaii over Easter. The shopping is as amazing as everyone says, we had great weather and fantastic food and even found good coffee.
